Born and raised in Rio Grande City, Dr. Javier “Jake” Margo, Jr., is the medical director of Rio Grande City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. A graduate of the University of Texas-Austin with a bachelor of science in biology, he received his medical degree from Texas A&M University Medical School and did his residency at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth where he specialized in family medicine. Dr. Margo is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and is a member of The American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology, The Texas Medical Association and is a board member of the Texas Academy of Family Physicians. He is also very involved in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life and Operation Lone Star which provides medical care to needy residents of the Valley area. He is a member of the Order of Alhambra of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church as well, and, he roots for the Mighty Rio Grande City Rattlers football team and is their team physician. He and his wife, Lisa, also a UT graduate, enjoy Longhorn sporting events, camping, mountain biking and spending time with family and friends.
