Dr. Alberto H. Gutierrez, Jr. graduated from U.T. Austin with majors in Pre-Med and Spanish. He then attended University of Texas Medical Branch, in Galveston, Texas, where he graduated in 1966. He completed his internship in family practice at Fresno County General Hospital in Fresno, California.

Dr. Gutierrez was a captain in The United States Air Force, Shaw AFB, in Sumter, South Carolina, from 1967-1969.

He is an investor in Doctors Hospital at Renaissance, a well-established clinic located at 122 W. Champion in Edinburg.

Dr. Gutierrez is married with grandchildren and enjoys writing, photography, hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, and raising his goats and his Longhorn cattle.
